Manchester United learn staggering price Bournemouth want for Antoine Semenyo

Manchester United are gearing up for a major summer overhaul—and nowhere is the need for reinforcements more urgent than up front, following a torrid 2024/25 campaign.

The Red Devils slumped to a disastrous 16th-place finish, racking up their worst-ever Premier League points tally and crashing out of the Europa League in the final against Tottenham Hotspur. No trophies. No top-half finish. No excuses.

The problems? Take your pick. André Onana’s form was patchy at best, the backline was brittle, and the midfield lacked bite. But the real crisis was up front.

Rasmus Højlund managed just four goals all season. Alejandro Garnacho—rumoured to be on his way out—struggled for consistency, and marquee signing Joshua Zirkzee simply never caught fire. For a club built on attacking legacy, it was an embarrassment.

United know this. And they’re moving fast.

Rúben Amorim’s rebuild is already in motion. Matheus Cunha has arrived from Wolves—where he was a shining light—and is expected to immediately challenge Højlund. Bryan Mbeumo is next in line from Brentford. But the name really turning heads at Carrington? Antoine Semenyo.

The Bournemouth forward was electric last season, notching 11 goals and 6 assists, and nearly dragging the Cherries into Europe. Quick, physical, fearless—Semenyo has the profile United crave.

But there’s a catch. A big one.

According to The i, Bournemouth have slapped a £70 million price tag on the Ghanaian. That’s right—seventy million.

And it’s not just paper talk. Sources suggest the figure has already made United hesitate. The south coast club, flush with cash from the sales of Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid and Milos Kerkez to Liverpool, are in no mood to sell on the cheap.

“Every attacking player you ask about is being put in the £60m bracket now,” one agent said this week, according to The i, underlining how inflated the market has become.

For Bournemouth, Semenyo isn’t just a player—he’s a statement. And unless United are willing to splash the cash, he’s going nowhere.

So what’s next for the Red Devils? They’ve got their sights on building a revamped front three with Cunha, Mbeumo, and perhaps Semenyo leading the charge. But with £70 million on the table, it’s decision time.

Will United dig deep to land one of the Premier League’s rising stars—or will they look elsewhere in a market where even potential now costs a fortune?

One thing’s for sure: if Semenyo stays put, it won’t be for lack of suitors. And if United pass him up, they’d better have a Plan B… fast.
