Manchester United's Marcus Rashford reacts

Pundit Dion Dublin believes that Manchester United star Marcus Rashford wasn’t putting much weight on his ankle in a possible injury scare before the cup final against Newcastle.

The Lowdown: Late substitution

Rashford once again got the nod from the off and helped the Red Devils defeat Barcelona in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Goals from Fred and Antony helped United win 2-1 after Robert Lewandowski put the visitors in front from the spot in the first half, with a half-time change of position for Rashford crucial in swinging the game.

It may not be all positive, though, with the England star being replaced for Scott McTominay late on at Old Trafford with a potential injury.

The Latest: Dublin’s comments

Dublin, who contributes to Sky Sports, was in the studio for MUTV at Old Trafford on Thursday evening.

Relayed by United in Focus, The pundit said after the game that Rashford wasn’t putting much weight on the injured ankle, saying he may have ‘rocked it’ and that the ‘medical staff will do what’s right’ ahead of the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

“He was just taking the weight off his left ankle. Maybe he has rocked it a little bit.

“Hopefully he can strap it up on Sunday, the medical staff will do what’s right.”

The Verdict: Worrying

Rashford has been United’s go-to man in recent months, scoring ten goals in his last ten Premier League games. In total, Rashford has contributed to 33 goals in 37 games this season, turning out in a variety of attacking additions.

He has been one of United’s top performers alongside Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro, as per WhoScored, so hopefully, he’ll be able to recover in time to face Newcastle at Wembley.

The player also appears to have shared a cryptic injury post on Instagram, though, so it will be one to keep an eye on in the next 48 hours.
