According to a whisper from Sky Sports via the Daily Express, Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford could be their ‘secret weapon’ in helping to bring long-time target Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford – especially due to the pair being good friends.
Sancho, who has bagged an incredible 24 goals in all competitions this season in Germany, including 12 assists, is arguably one of the hottest prospects in Europe right now with still so many years ahead of him.
The Englishman first established himself abroad after his move to Borussia Dortmund in 2017 from Manchester City, going on to make 79 appearances so far for the Bundesliga outfit whilst finding the net 26 times and assisting 36 others, as per Transfermarkt.
Now, it appears United could be handed a boost in snapping up the teenager, with Sky Sports journalist Kaveh Solhekol speaking at length on the transfer show and discussing his friendship with Rashford as a potential advantage.
“Sky in Germany saying Manchester United are in constant communication with Jadon Sancho’s representatives,” explained Solhekol on Sky Sports via the Express.
“They also say that Jadon Sancho is quite interested in an appealing move to Manchester United because he is good friends with Marcus Rashford.
“They also say that PSG are in constant touch because they see him as a potential replacement for Neymar.”
While Sancho overshadows United’s current wingers Anthony Martial and Daniel James in terms of goals and assists, evident by his incredible haul, he also beats them in terms of passing – currently averaging a superior 84.1% success rate in the league, as per WhoScored,com.
Rashford, while seen as a real incentive for Sancho to link up at Old Trafford, has amassed similar numbers in terms of goal threat this season – with the prospect of them both linking up together for United being a potentially scary one for opponents.
Time will tell whether Sancho does decide to make a move back to the Premier League, but Rashford’s presence could hand the Red Devils a slender advantage in securing his signature.
