Speaking to MUTV via the Manchester Evening News, Red Devils youngster Mason Greenwood has praised striking partner Anthony Martial’s improvised finish against Watford – describing the Frenchman as ‘brilliant‘.
Goals from Martial, Greenwood and an opener from new signing Bruno Fernandes earned a routine 3-0 home win over Watford on Sunday afternoon – with the former’s finish in particular drawing hefty praise for its improvised nature. Forced away from goal after being put through, seemingly surrounded by Hornets players, Martial managed to turn and scoop the ball past Ben Foster for United’s second of the contest – with Greenwood sealing the win later on with a good finish of his own. Speaking to the MEN, the 18-year-old couldn’t help but admire his teammate’s finish – going on to describe it as ‘brilliant‘ and state that Martial was just ‘doing what he does‘ in front of goal. The pair now have a combined 15 Premier League goals (WhoScored) and it wouldn’t be far-fetched to think that this could be the start of a potentially deadly partnership.
Responding to Greenwood’s comments, many Man United fans have had nothing but praise – here’s what they had to say.
Not so bad yourself Greenwood! Hard work pays off a great goal! Sir Bob would be proud of that!
