In response to Paul Pogba’s Instagram post via Gulf News, plenty of Manchester United supporters have been gushing over seeing the Frenchman pictured with former winger Memphis Depay, with some Red Devils fans even hinting that they should re-sign their former attacker.
Depay, who made 53 appearances overall for the Old Trafford club whilst racking up just seven goals and six assists (Transfermarkt), has since gone on to accumulate far more impressive statistics for current club Lyon, bagging a noteworthy 53 goals and 43 assists since putting pen to paper on a £16m deal back in January 2017.
Depay has also scored 14 goals in all competitions this season from out wide. Even though the Dutchman hardly impressed during his time in Manchester, some Red Devils supporters have been taken by with his recent form and insist they would have him back in a heartbeat. Compared to current winger Anthony Martial, Depay has smashed his former teammate’s numbers in terms of shots per game (3.7), key passes (1.9) and dribbles completed (2) this season, as per WhoScored.com – perhaps hinting those United fans are right to call for his return to Old Trafford.
