Manchester United: Fans fume over Sergio Romero’s squad exclusion - Manchester United News

A number of Manchester United fans have been venting their frustrations over the Red Devils’ “horrendous” handling of Sergio Romero‘s situation after the goalkeeper was left out of their 25-man Premier League squad.

The Argentina international has been omitted from United’s squads for the first half of the Premier League campaign and the Champions League, with the ‘keeper having been informed via social media, according to ESPN reporter Rob Dawson, while it is not believed he was told he would be surplus to requirements in the summer.

Which player made the most appearances for Ferguson?

Romero came close to securing a move away from Old Trafford in the last few days of the European transfer window. However, a move to Everton failed to materialse, with United holding out for a fee of around £8m. They were also reluctant to send him on loan to the Toffees as they considered the Merseyside club to be a top-four rival, as per The Athletic.

The Toffees had been willing to offer a £2m loan fee as well as paying all of the 33-year-old’s £100,000-a-week salary, according to The Athletic. However, Romero is now set to be on the periphery unless a move to the MLS occurs, having fallen behind Dean Henderson in the pecking order.

Plenty of Manchester United fans believe that the club have treated the ‘keeper poorly during the whole saga, with some feeling his professionalism has warranted more respect.
