Manchester United: Fans fume over latest reports over rejected Everton offer for Sergio Romero

A number of Manchester United fans have been venting their frustrations after it emerged that their club turned down a sizeable loan offer from Everton for Sergio Romero.
Everton had been looking to bring in a new goalkeeper to compete with Jordan Pickford, and the Toffees offered to cover the entirety of Romero’s £100,000-a-week wages, as well as paying a £2 million loan fee to take the Argentine to Goodison Park for the campaign, as per the Athletic.
However, it is believed that Untied rejected that offer as the Red Devils were holding out for a permanent transfer for the keeper, who they value at around £8 million, according to the report from the Athletic.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side decided against pursuing a move for Romero on those terms and instead brought in Robin Olsen on loan from AS Roma. That leaves United with a 33-year-old who is still feeling annoyed at the decision made by the Red Devils, as per the Athletic.
The Argentine is likely to now spend at least until January sat on the fringes of United’s squad, behind both Dean Henderson and David de Gea in the pecking order..
However, there is still the chance he could make a switch to the MLS, with a few clubs in that division interested in him ahead of their transfer window deadline on October 29th.
Lots of Manchester United fans were left bemused over the decision not to accept Everton’s offer for Romero, with some even suggesting that the Red Devils had let down the 33-year-old.

Model professional, Good servant to the club, Never spoke out about playing time, did his job well when called upon and this is how the board treats him. Disgrace.

Romero deserves to be allowed to move. He’s a very good keeper and has served the club well. You can’t expect him to sit on the bench even more now that Henderson is back as well. United should have done the decent thing and accepted the loan deal.

For a goalkeeper now finding himself 3rd in the pecking order and having only played 7 Premier League games in his entire Manchester United career this is really really poor form from us

Crazy if true. In 9 months he can leave for nothing. He has no chance of playing for Utd so best to reduce wages and get a small fee for this season if we can’t sell outright.

Totally agree with him I cannot believe they made him stay to be third choice when he should be someone’s first or second choice elsewhere
