Everton are reluctant to meet Southampton’s £45m-plus valuation of Tyler Dibling. The two clubs have been locked in negotiations for the past week, with Everton keen to bring the young Englishman to the Hill Dickinson Stadium.

Everton have sent three bids for Dibling, all of which were rejected with the Saints holding out for a figure above £45m. Sky Sports has reported that Everton’s latest bid was around £43m, made up of a guaranteed £35m plus add-ons of £8m.

Southampton are seeking a guaranteed £45m plus easily attainable add ons to sell the winger. The Saints are also seeking a 25% sell-on clause in the deal as they look to retain maximum value of their prized asset.

Southampton previously valued the player at £100m, a figure always deemed as unrealistic by interested parties. The club’s relegation and the player’s contract are understood to have now lowered the fee significantly.

Dibling has two years remaining on his contract, and Southampton are happy for the player to remain at the club for another season to help with the promotion push.

Everton locked in talks for Dibling

The 19-year-old was one of the Premier League’s breakout stars last season. He scored two goals in 33 appearances for Southampton, as one of the Saints’ lone bright spots despite being relegated.

Southampton are prepared to hold firm for their evaluation. Everton have not submitted an improved bid yet and are understood to be willing to move to other targets.

They have been linked with Lyon’s Malick Fofana, Man City’s Jack Grealish, and Real Sociedad Takefusa Kubo. The Toffees have agreed a £29m deal for Chelsea midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and also hold interest in former Premier League enforcers Douglas Luiz and Wilfried Ndidi.

Everton are looking to rebuild this summer after seeing a number of first team players depart following the expiry of their contracts. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Ashley Young, Abdoulaye Doucouré, Asmir Begovic, and Joao Virginia all left as free agents, while loanees like Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrøm and Armando Broja returned to their parent clubs.
