According to the Mirror, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reiterated his belief that he is the right man for the job after the Red Devils dismantled Austrian side LASK 5-0 in the Europa League.
The Norwegian took aim at former manager Jose Mourinho and claimed he is still clearing up the mess he inherited from the Portuguese when he arrived at Old Trafford.
Solskjaer has orchestrated a complete squad rebuild since rejoining United including signing Odion Ighalo and Bruno Fernandes in January and handing academy products Mason Greenwood and Tahith Chong their Premier League debuts (Transfermarkt).
The club legend told the Mirror “I felt a lot needed to be changed.”
We’ve signed four players, lost quite a few and promoted from within, with lots of youngsters. I don’t know how dramatic those changes have been.”
He later added “I think I’m the right man, but I’m not going to sit here and talk about that. The proof is in the pudding at the end of the day.”
Unsurprisingly his latest comments have divided the Red Devils fan base, with several supporters questioning the lack of proof. One even suggested the club has had “our worst season in 30 years.”
However, some United fans have argued Solskjaer is the right man for the job after a sudden upturn in performances over the past couple of months.
Manchester United are now unbeaten in 11 games, keeping nine clean sheets and scoring an impressive 29 goals (Transfermarkt).
Solskjaer’s side are still in contention for silverware with a spot in the Europa League last 16 and a FA Cup quarter final tie against Norwich City.
