According to a report from The Times, Manchester United are ‘exploring the possibility‘ of playing a friendly in India as part of their pre-season summer tour – with many Red Devils supporters seemingly excited over the news.
Bloomberg via Forbes estimate that United’s global fan base comes in at around 659 million people, with just under half of them coming from the Asia Pacific region – resulting in those numbers potentially becoming a main catalyst for the Red Devils’ proposal to play a friendly in India. A report from IndianExpress.com via the Sports Rush also claims that the arrangement is all but confirmed, with United set to play East Bengal at the Salt Lake.
This source also claims that the Red Devils have given the ‘green light‘ for the game to be played next summer in a possible attempt to continue building bridges with their faithful Indian support base. As a result, many supporters have buzzed over the news on Twitter – find all of their best comments down below.

That’s great news. Been proposing that for a long time. United is the most popular club in India & this will make us even more popular. There are even United fan clubs in several cities. We would love to see them here. @ujjwalingolikar
