Manchester United fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are hoping their financial presence will be enough to get them this next target after the Manchester Evening News revealed they are going to lock horns with Tottenham over Harry Kane.
Daniel Levy is perceived as one of the top negotiators in football but if anyone is going to get the better of him, it will be United’s Ed Woodward.
Kane is England’s rising star and it would take an astronomical fee to take him away from White Hart Lane.
Woodward is seen as the best man in the commercial side of football after making the Red Devils into a $1bn brand, following mega deals with Chevrolet and most recently Adidas.
This has allowed them to pursue the worlds best players with Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao being the most recent high profile players to arrive at Old Trafford.
People say United will have to exceed £50m if they are serious about signing Kane, but this shouldn’t be a problem, meaning Levy may have to give up his prize possession.
