Manchester United are reportedly the favourites to sign Borussia Mönchengladbach’s midfielder Denis Zakaria this summer, according to Sky Sports Germany via the Daily Star.
Zakaria has played in 23 games in the Bundesliga for Gladbach this season, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists. His current market value stands at £40.5m (Transfermarkt).
The Swiss international has won 28 caps and scored 3 goals for his country so far despite his youth (Transfermarkt).
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is interested in signing the 23-year-old as a possible future replacement for veteran defensive midfielder Nemanja Matic. Still, Zakaria will face stiff competition from in-form midfielder Scott McTominay if he does indeed move to Old Trafford this summer. Between the two, the Swiss boasts a much better passing accuracy at 86.7% compared to 79.1% (via WhoScored) and he also beats the Scotsman for tackles, interceptions and blocks per game.
