RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner has told Sky Sports he is unsure about joining Manchester United, Manchester City or Liverpool in the upcoming transfer window. Several United supporters have shared their views on Twitter with some criticising the 24-year-old’s comments.
Werner said “at this time in professional soccer there are two different variations. The first is to be part of a team like Liverpool or Manchester City. They have a good working team. The teams have also great coaches.
“But this is the question: do you want to go to that kind of team, because the situation is already that hard for each member and you want to be a part of it? That’s one point you have to look at.
“The other side are teams which need some big changes, because they just won a few big titles, but they are not able to compete on the highest level anymore. For me Manchester United is one of these teams.”
Werner has played 35 games for RBL this season in all competitions this season, bagging 27 goals and creating 11 assists. Notably, the German centre-forward is currently valued at £67.5m via Transfermarkt.
The German international signed a contract extension last August, keeping him at the Red Bull Arena until 2023. Werner has earned himself 29 caps for the national team, netting 11 goals, including scoring against the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League in 2018 (Transfermarkt).

Although it seems plausible Werner could stay with the Bundesliga challengers, United fans should expect speculation to heat up as the summer transfer window approaches.
