Manchester United: Red Devils fans gush over Thomas Partey revelation

Thomas Partey doesn’t want to stay at Atletico Madrid and is eager to join Manchester United, according to an exclusive from Saddick Adams. Naturally, the latest revelation has delighted lots of Red Devils.

The African football journalist tweeted a source close to Partey told him the midfielder is reluctant to sign a new contract extension with Los Rojiblancos, adding he prefers a move to the Premier League if he does indeed leave the Wanda Metropolitano in the summer.

Adams added the Ghana international is excited by the transfer link to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Solskjaer is in the market for a new defensive midfielder, as it is fair to say Nemanja Matic is approaching the twilight of his career, and a move for the 26-year-old would make a lot of sense. United have also registered their interest in West Ham United’s Declan Rice.

Ever since he graduated from the Red and Whites academy, Partey has been touted as a highly-rated midfield stalwart, making 174 appearances for Diego Simeone’s Madrid, scoring 15 goals and providing 12 assists. His current market value is estimated at £36m per Transfermarkt.

He has played in 24 games in La Liga this season, completing 2.1 tackles per game, averaging 1.4 clearances, and attempting 1.2 clearances on average via WhoScored.

Given his performances over the years, the Ghanaian has attracted plenty of suitors up until now, and Ed Woodward faces a battle with bitter rivals Arsenal for the player’s signature. However, this recent report implies United are now in front.

Understandably, lots of supporters were overjoyed by the transfer news, and several fans gleefully mocked Mikel Arteta’s Gunners. One fan cheekily commented “Arsenal fans in the mud,” whilst another suggested he could a “replacement for Matic.”
