Manchester United: Red Devils fans rave over Odion Ighalo following club tweet

Odion Ighalo has turned out to be one of the bargains of the January transfer window, prompting Manchester United to celebrate his performances this month.

Since moving to Old Trafford from Shanghai Shenhua earlier this year on a short-term loan contract until the end of the season, Ighalo has already netted 4 goals in 8 appearances in all competitions for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side, including a brace against Derby County in the FA Cup at the beginning of March (Transfermarkt).

The Nigerian striker, who is valued at just £5.85m by Transfermarkt, was initially signed to provide injury cover for Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. Ighalo has more than stepped up to the plate, averaging 2.7 shots per game, playing 2 key passes, and successfully completing 1.7 dribbles on average in the Europa League (WhoScored).

In comparison, Martial takes 1.8 shots on average, averages 0.3 key passes per game, and completes roughly 1.5 dribbles in the European competition this season (WhoScored).

All things considered, the 30-year-old has quickly adapted to life in Manchester, and Solskjaer has hinted he is keen to keep a hold of the Nigerian in the summer.

Naturally many Red Devils have been raving about Ighalo’s impressive start to his career at Old Trafford, with one supporter remarking he is a “beautiful player.” Another simply added “what a find.”
