Many Manchester United fans have reacted to Fabrizio Romano’s transfer update on Paul Pogba in Calciomercato.
The football journalist revealed that, despite initial reports earlier this week, Pogba does not intend to buy out his contract in order to leave Old Trafford for free.
However, Romano added Juventus will be the only club able to negotiate with United chief executive Ed Woodward to reach an agreement for the Frenchman, noting he still remains a priority for the Old Lady’s boss Maurizio Sarri.
La Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Nico Schira tweeted that the World Cup winner wants to leave Manchester and his first choice is a return to his former club.
Pogba has been the subject of frequent transfer speculation over recent years, largely fuelled by his controversial agent Mino Raiola, and it is fair to say the 27-year-old is quite a divisive character amongst the Red Devils fan base.
After rejoining United from the Italian giants, the midfield maestro has bagged 31 goals and produced 31 assists in all competitions so far, picking up the Europa League trophy and League Cup in the process (via Transfermarkt).
Unfortunately, the talisman suffered a nasty ankle injury, and has only featured in 7 games in the Premier League for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.
In light of recent events, it remains to be seen whether or not Juventus and other suitors like Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid will be able to meet United’s valuation for the French international in the upcoming transfer window, as the board still price Pogba at more than £100m.
Predictably, plenty of Red Devils reacted to Romano’s comments on Twitter, with one fan urging the Serie A side to “show us the money,” and another commenting there is “no chance” Pogba will leave.

Truly believe he’s staying at United. No team will meet his valuation.

Show us the money and I’d happily let a player go that doesn’t want to be at United.
