Several Red Devils fans reacted to a post from Manchester United’s official Twitter account wishing Marcos Rojo a happy birthday.
Rojo is currently on loan at his childhood team Club Estudiantes de La Plata but many fans haven’t forgotten about the Argentinian “ankle-breaker.” The veteran defender has gained a fearsome reputation for making some crunching tackles throughout his career.
Since moving to Manchester from Sporting CP for £18m back in 2014, the 30-year-old has made over 100 appearances for United, before leaving for Estudiantes in January. His short-term contract is set to expire this June and it remains to be seen whether or not Ole Gunnar Solskjaer deems him surplus to requirements (Transfermarkt).
Rojo only played for 211 minutes in the Premier League during the whole of the 2018/2019 season, blocked only 0.4 shots per game, unfortunately scored an own goal, and finished with a low overall statistical rating of 6.15 via WhoScored. The Argentine’s market value is rated at £9m via Transfermarkt.
A large section of the United faithful replied to the club’s birthday message, with one supporter pleading with the club to “bring him back asap.”
