Manchester United: Red Devils ‘relaxed’ in Jadon Sancho transfer race as Dortmund step up the pressure

Manchester United are ‘relaxed’ about signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this summer, reports say.

Contrary to popular belief, Man United have not submitted a bid for the England international so far and Dortmund have confirmed this remains the case.

According to The Manchester Evening News, as per @utdreport, United believe the Bundesliga runners-up are trying to stir interest in Sancho from other potential suitors to speed up a deal before their pre-season commences.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insists the 20-year-old is the signing he needs to rebuild the Red Devils midfield before the start of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

Sources told Samuel Luckhurst that Dortmund want to sell the winger by August 10 at the very latest, which is the same day as United’s Europa League quarter-final in Cologne.

While the German giants are in no rush to sell, Ed Woodward will not be hurried either. As it stands, the transfer window will close at the beginning of October, which has left the clubs with plenty of time to get a deal done.

Sancho, who was Dortmund’s top scorer last season, netted 20 goals and supplied 18 assists in all competitions.

Premier League rivals Chelsea remain interested in the Manchester City academy graduate, although they have already signed Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, with Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Kai Havertz pushing for a move to Stamford Bridge in the meantime. While Roman Abramovich is ready to spend big in the summer, the Blues are expected to focus their efforts on fixing their leaky defence instead.

Solskjaer will surely never get a better chance to get his man as the majority of their closest rivals, including the likes of Real Madrid and Barcelona, will be unable to meet Dortmund’s demands in the transfer window.

Lucien Favre’s side have already started preparing for Sancho’s departure, so the responsibility rests entirely on Woodward’s shoulders. Given his track record, he will want to wrap up a deal as quickly as possible.
