After Manchester United had to settle for a 1-1 draw away to Club Brugge in the Europa League on Thursday night, ex-Red Devils striker Robin Van Persie has lauded Anthony Martial’s equaliser – claiming his ability to create space in front of the defender and goalkeeper is what sets him apart from all the rest.
Martial, who has scored in United’s last two outings, the equaliser on Thursday and the opening header of their 2-0 victory away to Chelsea last week, is currently in fine form if you look at the statistics.
According to WhoScored.com, Martial has notched 14 goals in all competitions this season – just four fewer than top scorer Marcus Rashford. Against Brugge, while scoring the leveller, Martial also hit the woodwork and had two shots on target which were saved by Simon Mignolet – highlighting the Frenchman’s continued threat before taken off for January loan signing Odion Ighalo. Van Persie, speaking to BT Sport via the Daily Star, lauded his finish to bring United back into the game – claiming it highlights why he is a ‘top player‘.
Indeed, one fan even suggested they show van Persie’s comments to Roy Keane, who has previously slammed the former Monaco man.
Here’s how United fans responded down below.
Can someone show this to Roy Keane
