Speaking to Stats Perform via the Manchester Evening News, ex-Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has explained that critics often judge Paul Pogba ‘unfairly‘ in terms of goals and assists, with some Red Devils supporters agreeing with the Dutchman’s verdict.
Van Persie, who bagged a prolific 26 goals in 35 starts over a phenomenal 2012/13 campaign to clinch Man United their last league title under Sir Alex Ferguson, spoke candidly over Pogba’s treatment to Stats Perform, explaining that people could expect too much of the midfielder when it comes to his goals and assists return. The Frenchman’s best season for United in that regard came during the 2018/19 campaign, when he managed to bag 13 goals while assisting nine others from midfield, as per WhoScored.com. According to Van Persie, people should be expecting around ‘maybe 12 to 15 goals‘ if he plays in the number 10 role.
Responding to the ‘intellectual’ ex-Arsenal striker’s take, many Red Devils fans have applauded the verdict – find all of their best comments down below.
