Manchester United star still dead set on summer departure

Patrice EvraThe Football Transfer Tavern is rather quiet today, but reports from Manchester Evening News have caused a stir among Manchester United supporters.

The paper indicates that United defender Patrice Evra will depart in the summer, despite recent speculation that he has triggered an extension clause on his existing Old Trafford deal.

It is thought that the 32-year-old will still return to France at the end of the season despite the fact he has started 25 games which has brought into affect an extension to his current deal that expires in the summer.

The left back appears to be leaving Old Trafford as part of David Moyes’ major revamp of the squad as left behind by Sir Alex Ferguson.

Evra has been strongly linked with a return to former club Monaco or Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain who are both very interested in securing his services in the summer.

Moyes seems to want a younger full back, and although he failed in a very public pursuit for Everton’s Leighton Baines, United have been rumoured to be interested in a host of possible replacements, notably Southampton’s Luke Shaw.

Should Moyes do everything possible to keep Evra at Old Trafford or is it time to let him depart? Let us know your thoughts below.
