Manchester United fans in the Transfer Tavern are eager to see the January window open up, as they’re getting excited with reports of their planned business in the New Year.
The Sun state the Red Devils are stepping-up their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, after failing to find the net in 120 minutes against Championship side Middlesbrough; bowing out of the League Cup after a shoot-out defeat.
This added to their concerns in attack, with all the expectations being heaped upon the young shoulders of Anthony Martial- as Wayne Rooney has gone MIA throughout the season.
Kane is targeted as their number-one target as they believe the striker, who scored 21 Premier League goals in his breakthrough year last term, would provide a huge boost to their struggling attack and could ignite their push for the title.
The England international was quiet in the early stages of the season but sparked into life in the most recent match day, netting a hat-trick against struggling AFC Bournemouth that showed he still has plenty to offer.
Supporters at the bar believe Kane would be a very expensive acquisition but are confident he can payback his hefty price-tag over the coming years, in a similar fashion Rooney did after arriving from Everton in 2004.
