Manchester United: Supporters nominate Fred as Player of the Month

After completing a stellar month overall for Manchester United, midfielder Fred is being dubbed by plenty of supporters as their best player in that time – even despite the exploits of goalscoring teammates Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial.

Responding to a Twitter post by Utd Report, Red Devils fans pinpointed who exactly deserves the ‘Player of the Month’ accolade – with the news account outlining three stars to choose from in Rashford, Greenwood and Fred.

While plenty of supporters were voting for the obvious candidates, namely the academy duo who scored a combined eight Premier League goals this month, an equal number of fans highlighted Fred as the focal point of their resurgent December.

In that time, the Brazilian formed a solid partnership with Scott McTominay in midfield whilst also providing bursts of energy and vigour in the middle of the park. Indeed, as per WhoScored, Fred trails only Paul Pogba and Ashley Young when it comes to making key passes per game, while his 3.8 long balls over the same period (third-highest in the squad) could help the Red Devils utilise the pace of their attackers on the counter-attack.

As a result, these supporters, in particular, have outlined the 26-year-old as an unsung hero – here’s what they had to say on social media.
