Marcus Rashford scored his first goal in exactly one month last night, opening the scoring in England’s 6-0 thrashing of Bulgaria in Euro 2020 qualifying.

His last Manchester United goal came on September 14th when he netted from the penalty spot against Leicester, with his only other goals this season being scored against Chelsea in their Premier League opener in August.
That brace against Chelsea came with the 21-year-old playing on the left wing, where he played for United’s first three games this season before Anthony Martial’s hamstring injury resulted in him being moved to a centre-forward role which has yielded only one goal in his last seven games for his club. Rashford started on the left side of a three-man England attack in Sofia and took just seven minutes to get Gareth Southgate’s team off the mark.
He had regularly played in a wide role under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has predominantly fielded him in a centre-forward role over the last few months.
These Manchester United fans on Twitter called for Rashford to be redeployed as a winger after scoring from that position for England last night:
Need to see more of that against Liverpool. He’s better from the left

That’s why you play him at LW

Marcus Rashford is NOT CF! That’s simple as that, hope Martial will be back and see Marcus in his best position – as LW

Rashfords goal last night though
Southgate getting the best out of him. He’s a winger and thats exactly what Jose said too. Both Rashford & Martial are more effective playing on the wings. Shame the PE teachers at our club cant see that— JZ 🇾🇪 (@JZ_7) October 15, 2019
Looks like Jose was completely right about Rashford. A winger all day long and will probably never become a top class CF. #mufc
