Following Peter Crouch’s comments to the BBC over Manchester United needing to strengthen in midfield and attack this January, some supporters have flocked to social media to back up the pundit’s verdict – demanding manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scour the market for fresh talent.
Paul Pogba’s reintroduction to the team during their Sunday loss to Premier League bottom side Watford appeared to inject much-needed creativity at the heart of the pitch, something they’ve had to do without, even while the partnership of Fred and Scott McTominay has its benefits.
Speaking after United’s defeat at Vicarage Road, Crouch also believes they should build the team around Pogba’s ingenuity – and failing that, search the transfer window for some creative midfielders who could do the job.
The Red Devils have long been linked with an attacking midfielder, including European stars Bruno Fernandes and Kai Havertz, but it remains to be seen whether these rumours actually come to fruition.
