It’s a rumour that won’t go away in the Football Transfer Tavern.

Once again, Mail Online report that Manchester United are ready to step up their interest in Sporting Lisbon’s starlet William Carvalho.

The 21-year-old has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in Europe after some assured performances for the Portuguese outfit and United have reportedly watched him over 12 times during the last few months.

Today’s speculation indicates that the young starlet is only currently paid around £4,000-a-week which could make him easy pickings for the big-spending Old Trafford club, who could look to increase that dramatically.

He’s been dubbed the ‘new Patrick Vieira’ and could follow Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo’s route of progression from Sporting to Old Trafford as he tries to repeat his predecessors’ huge success in England.

The Angola-born midfielder, who could make the Portugal national team for the upcoming World Cup, is thought to have a release clause worth 45 million Euros which could put off interest from Moyes.

Another target for the Red Devils remains a reunion with Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, who departed the club under Sir Alex Ferguson as he looked for regular football, but United will also have their work cut out to land the French star.

This story is certainly gathering pace as the summer close in but can you see the youngster heading to Old Trafford in the summer? Let us know your thoughts below.
