We didn’t think it would be long before Everton players were being linked with a possible reunion with new Manchester United manager David Moyes at Old Trafford in the Football Transfer Tavern. And today The Sun’s Andrew Dillion confirms Everton fans fears with news that Toffees ace Phil Jagielka, 30, is now a £10 million target for Manchester United.
It is already thought that Moyes wants to fetch Everton stars Marouane Felliani and Leighton Baines to the Premier League champions and the England international centre back, who signed from Sheffield United for £4 million six years ago, is the third man on Moyes’ transfer wishlist.
An Everton insider is reported to have told The Sun: “David loves Jags from top to bottom. He describes him as ‘absolute class’.
“If there is one player from here he will come back for, it will be Jags.
“They get on great and David considers it a pleasure to work with him.”
However punters in the tavern have doubts whether they really need another central defender as while United have an ageing centre back partnership of Rio Ferdinand, 34, and Nemanja Vidic, 31, Ferguson has left behind the very capable Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans as long-term replacements.
