Roma’s Italian World Cup winner Daniele De Rossi is the subject of interest from Manchester City. According to The Daily Star the tenacious midfielder is also being chased by Ferguson’s United. The Red Devil’s have been considering an £18m offer for the ferocious midfielder, which is set to be eclipsed by City’s offer of £35m.
The defensive midfielder is seen as someone who can address United’s considerable lack of bit in the middle of the park since the departure of Roy Keane. Italian publication Gazetto Dello Sport has reported that De Rossi’s contract talks have stalled, with the Il Giallorossi unwilling to bow to the players request for an improved contract of €5m per year.
Although believed to be the kind of one man club player which inspires such adoration from the fans, (with Francesco Totti being perhaps the best example of this) the Roman born destroyer is keen on a move away after a enduring a difficult season interrupted by off-the pitch problems.
The 27 year-olds agent has been encouraged to try and engineer a move away from the eternal city in order to kick start the midfielders career. Mancini’s former employers, Inter Milan have also thrown their hat into the ring for the much admired Italian vice-captain.
