Everton haven’t had a stand alone main striker who they can rely on since Romelu Lukaku left to join Manchester United.
That was evident this season, as Richarlison, Cenk Tosun and Dominic Calvert-Lewin all had a go up front, but Duncan Ferguson has suggested the latter could permanently step up to the plate.
Do Everton need to sign a striker this summer?

However, many Everton supporters are far from convinced about the idea of having the former Sheffield United man as their main striker, with some claiming he doesn’t score enough goals.
According to WhoScored, he got a total of six Premier League goals in 19 starts and 16 substitute appearances, which isn’t overly impressive, but some would argue that if he was to start on a more regular basis it would be easier to get into better goalscoring form, though finishing is listed as a weakness on his WhoScored profile.
The Scotsman, who scored 72 times himself for Everton during his playing career feels that Calvert-Lewin is improving and can lead the line.
His tally of seven goals in 15 games for England Under 21s does show he could improve his numbers in front of goal for the Toffees.
However, Evertonians are having none of it and are openly saying they want their club to bring in a new frontman to bang in the goals.

He’s a Centre forward that doesn’t score goals… what do you think?

Great work rate. Brilliant at holding the ball up. Probably the worst finisher in Europe.

Without a doubt. Most important signing this window.
