Many Liverpool fans have been left bemused by recent Jurgen Klopp comments

Liverpool supporters have been in high spirits in the Transfer Tavern in the last few days after seeing their side all but seal their place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League courtesy of a 5-0 success over Porto in the first leg of their last 16 tie on Wednesday.

Jurgen Klopp’s men went into their clash with the Portuguese giants off the back of a 2-0 win over Southampton in their previous encounter, a result which moved them to within two points of second place Manchester United in the Premier League table. And the Reds continued their fine form on Wednesday as a hat-trick from Sadio Mane as well as strikes from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino sealed a comprehensive victory for the Merseysiders, all but booking their place in the last eight.

Subsequently, there have been many thrilled Liverpudlians in the Tavern in recent times, several of whom are hoping that their team can continue their wonderful run of form when they return to league action against West Ham on Saturday.

In the meantime though, there has been much for our resident Reds fans to discuss, not least recent comments from manager Klopp that this current Liverpool squad is the best he has had at his disposal.

The Merseyside giants are well-placed for another top four finish in the Premier League and are almost certain to make the last eight of the Champions League, efforts that arguably cannot be achieved without sufficient depth.

And Klopp has since labelled this squad the best he had ever had, in comments which have stimulated some bemusement among many Liverpool supporters on Twitter…

I know I sound ungrateful, team look great etc ! But come on! Solanke, ings lallana etc are not good enough to replace salah, mane and firmino if any of them get injured

Yeah 1 injury to Firmino and we have a failed Chelsea youngster to replace him.
1 injury to Salah and we have Ben Woodburn.
