Yesterday’s pulsating EFL Cup final was a wonderful watch for punters from up and down the country in the Transfer Tavern, as Manchester United managed to scrape through against a pretty dominant Southampton side.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic will obviously take many of the plaudits as he notched two goals, including a late winner, though the opposition striker should be in for just as many. Both of the Saints’ goals were scored by Manolo Gabbiadini, who has made a stunning start to life on these shores.
He’s now scored five goals in three games for the south coast side and really should have had another yesterday, though his instinctive opener was unfairly ruled out as offside.
Perhaps the most frustrating thing for Saints amid what has been a wonderful period for the club is the fact that anyone who does well for them is quickly linked away. Obviously, already touting a man who arrived in only January for a departure already is jumping the gun, but Liverpool fans on Twitter appear to be poking fun at the Saints’ sales.
With the Reds having bought so many players from St. Mary’s over the years, to varying success, many Kopites took to social media to suggest the Italian forward would be next on their list.

Odds on Liverpool making a bid in excess of 30 mil for Manolo Gabbiadini in the summer? May as well write the cheque now
