McLeish to Rangers: 2 players he seriously must look to sign for Rangers in the summer if he joins

With Rangers seemingly no closer to landing a replacement for Mark Warburton, the fans propping up the bar in the Transfer Tavern are getting slightly fed up of the constant speculation.

A certain section of the supporters in for a drink this evening believe the Gers would be best off appointing a stop-gap option such as Alex McLeish to bring the fire back to Ibrox right away, with a longer-term candidate becoming a priority over the course of the next year or so.

So it’s little surprise to see the former Scotland manager among the favourites for a return to Glasgow, with the 58-year-old proving he’s got what it takes to win the Scottish Premiership during his first stint in charge of the club.

For that, though, he’ll certainly need an improvement in the playing ranks. So, considering all of this, here are TWO players he should seriously look to sign if he gets the job.

Jason Cummings

While the rivalry between Hibernian and Rangers may make this move slightly controversial, Jason Cummings is exactly the sort of player the Gers should be targeting. With Kenny Miller coming to the end of his career, the 21-year-old would be a wonderful long-term replacement for the 38-year-old.

Would also stop him scoring against Rangers, something he loves to do.

Andrew Considine

Though he recently penned a new deal at another of Rangers’ rivals, Aberdeen, Andrew Considine would be a wonderful option to shore up the backline. The likes of Rob Kiernan and Philippe Senderos have failed to convince entirely and the 29-year-old would be a solid option to tighten things up indeed.
