Our Liverpool fans here in the Transfer Tavern are loving the number of goals their team are scoring on a regular basis at the moment and are hoping that it will continue throughout the season.

The ease in which Jurgen Klopp’s side are demolishing teams at the moment is making them look like a dangerous outfit, despite the early season defensive issues. The Reds seem to have turned things around at the back, having kept a plethora of clean sheets in recent months – and they now sit third in the table of highest scoring teams behind the two Manchester clubs.

Another win for Klopp takes Liverpool back up into the Champions League places as the competition for the top four heats up, with Burnley recently hitting form and surprisingly challenging alongside the Reds, Arsenal and Tottenham as they seemingly battle it out to grab the last spot behind Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea.

Liverpool’s win against Bournemouth was an interesting one for our resident Reds, with a lot of key things to take away from the fixture. Let’s take a look at THREE of them…

Mo Salah

The Egyptian has surprised almost everybody since his move to Anfield in the summer from Roma. The former Chelsea man is the Premier League’s leading scorer and Liverpool’s highest goal scorer since Luis Suarez left for Barcelona. Klopp simply cannot afford to drop him at the moment if they are to continue their nine-match unbeaten run, with what he currently brings to the team in terms of assists and link up play.

Salah forms a third of a dangerous front three, which is partly the reason why most teams are being blown away this season, and if Klopp wants to cement down a top four place, a fit and in-form Salah is key.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

After a slow start to life at Liverpool, Oxlade-Chamberlain is starting to show signs of massive improvement and progression under new manager Jurgen Klopp. Although he was played out of position at the start, covering for Mo Salah or Sadio Mane on either flank, he now seems to be playing a huge part in the current nine-match unbeaten run the Reds are on.

Forming a hard-working midfield three behind the front trio of Coutinho, Firmino and Salah yesterday, the Ox gave Liverpool a well-balanced outlook with the right dash of creativity and graft, which helped to break down Bournemouth’s defence with ease.

Liverpool’s first goal by their Brazilian magic man showed the importance of why Klopp has to keep him come January. He can spilt a defence with a pass, a piece of skill or, like yesterday, his dribbling quality. He scores a variation of goals and is the link between midfield and attack, which is so important in the quest to win a match.

Like their rivals Man United have shown in Pogba’s absence, a player with this ability to link up the two areas of the pitch is invaluable, and so Coutinho has proven once again that he cannot be sold in January under any circumstances.
