Milan’s £20.7m-rated wonderkid should be Man City’s main transfer priority this summer

Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern can’t wait for next season to begin after watching the Citizens dominate the Premier League last season.

City ended the season as champions, finishing 19 points ahead of rivals Manchester United in second. They also scooped the Carabao Cup in February. The Citizens disappointed in Europe, being knocked out of the Champions League by finalists Liverpool.

Pep Guardiola’s side isn’t the finished article, but it’s hard to pick out areas of improvement due to the abundance of talent at his disposal. Two major signings are expected at the Etihad with Napoli’s Jorginho, and Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez set to seal big-money moves in the coming days.

Reports have linked City with a move for Ajax youngster – Frenkie De Jong. The Dutchman is considered one of Europe’s hottest prospects but looks set to move to Barcelona as Sergio Busquets’ long-term replacement. Instead, Guardiola should launch a bid for AC Milan striker – Patrick Cutrone.

Valued at £20.7m by Transfermarkt, the Italian has emerged as one of the Serie A’s top prospects. The 20-year-old was extremely impressive last season, netting 18 goals in all competitions as well as creating four for his team-mates. Milan boss, Gennaro Gattuso, likened the forward to Milan legend – Pippo Inzaghi.

Cutrone could be the long-term replacement for Sergio Aguero in Manchester. Guardiola has a reputation for developing young players and would help the Italian fulfil his massive potential. He is a physical forward who makes excellent runs and can finish on either foot. Cutrone could prove to be City’s best signing in history.
