Mohamed Salah’s departure from Liverpool has been expected for months.
The Egyptian icon confirmed back in March that he would be leaving Anfield this summer. Although Salah signed a new two-year contract in April 2025, the Reds later announced they had reached an agreement over his future, allowing him to depart on a free transfer.
He leaves as one of the greatest players in Liverpool’s history, winning two Premier League titles, the Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, FA Cup, two League Cups and the Community Shield.
He also departs as the club’s all-time leading Premier League scorer and third-highest goalscorer overall with an incredible 257 goals.
Now, it appears his next destination has been decided.
Mohamed Salah Next Destination Revealed
According to Foot Mercato, Salah is on the verge of joining Besiktas following the end of his Liverpool career.
The 34-year-old reportedly made his decision after Egypt’s heartbreaking World Cup exit, where they surrendered a two-goal lead to lose 3-2 against Argentina in the Round of 16.
Salah is said to have reached an agreement with the Turkish club and is expected to sign as a free agent.
The proposed deal is reportedly a one-year contract with the option of a second, worth around €10 million (£8.6m) per season, plus a further €2m (£1.7m) in bonuses.
Besiktas, who qualified for next season’s Europa League after finishing fourth in the Süper Lig, are set to pull off one of the biggest free transfers of the summer. Salah had also been linked with a move to MLS, but it now appears Turkey will be the next chapter in his remarkable career.
As for his replacement at Anfield, PSG’s Bradley Barcola is among those linked.
