Mohamed Salah’s future is once again dominating headlines as the Liverpool forward edges closer to the end of his time at Anfield. After nearly a decade of success, the Egyptian icon has confirmed he will leave the club this summer.
For a long time, the expectation has been clear: a lucrative switch to Saudi Arabia. Interest from the Middle East has been persistent, with Al-Ittihad famously seeing a £150 million bid rejected back in 2023. Since then, the Saudi Pro League has remained a likely destination for the Liverpool star.
However, the situation may not be as straightforward as it once seemed. Fresh reports suggest Salah could yet opt to remain in Europe — opening the door to a far more unexpected next chapter.
Fenerbahce Emerge as Shock Contenders
Turkish heavyweights Fenerbahçe S.K. have now emerged as serious contenders for Salah’s signature.
According to A Spor, club officials have already held multiple rounds of talks with the player’s representatives as they look to pull off one of the most eye-catching transfers in recent years. Fenerbahce are believed to be willing to meet Salah’s hefty wage demands, which are thought to be in the region of £333,000 per week.
That said, they are far from alone in the race. European giants including Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also keeping close tabs on developments, while interest from Italy and even Major League Soccer continues to linger.
Despite the growing list of suitors, Salah’s camp has yet to make any definitive statement, leaving his future wide open heading into the summer window.
What once felt inevitable now feels wide open. Saudi Arabia may still be in the picture, but this is no longer a one-horse race.
If Salah does choose a different path, it won’t just be a transfer — it’ll reshape the entire narrative around the final years of his career.
