Leeds United have dropped out of the Championship play-off places for the first time in months and Whites supporters lining the bar here in the Tavern are seriously worried about their side’s current form under Garry Monk.

Leeds lost to Wolves last time out and as a result, they slipped out of the play-off places, with in-form Fulham ghosting in ahead of them into sixth place.

It would be considered a very disappointing season indeed if Monk can’t take his side back into the play-offs when things do eventually wrap up, after keeping pace with the frontrunners for the majority of the campaign.

Even our Whites-mad barman expected better against Wolves and he, along with many others, are worrying about this weekend’s must-win tie against Burton.

But how should Monk change things up? There are concerns that some changes need to be made to the defence after the shoddy display against Wolves, so here’s a look at the Leeds defence Monk needs to field on Saturday…

GK: Rob Green

There’s little Rob Green has done wrong over the past couple of weeks and there’s even talk of a new contract for the former England international in the summer after a fantastic season.

This is a position that certainly doesn’t need to be tampered with from now until the end of the season.

RB: Luke Ayling

Former Bristol City man Luke Ayling has had his best season to date and has slotted in at Elland Road almost seamlessly following his summer move to the club.

He brings pace, physicality and forward-thinking to this backline and he’ll certainly be looking to get at a Burton defence that has struggled for most of the campaign.

CB: Pontus Jansson

Punters in here were frustrated with the Swede’s inability to hit the target against Wolves but going forward, they’ll be more fussed that he keeps things solid at the back, as he has done for most of the season.

He’s looks almost certain to sign permanently at the end of the season and for a Premier League-pushing Whites, that’s only a good thing – he’s been fantastic.

CB: Kyle Bartley

With Liam Cooper banned until the end of the season, there’s little Monk can do when it comes to switching around the central defenders and Kyle Bartley, like Jansson, has had a fantastic campaign and will be looking to bounce back against Burton.

He’ll have come up against better forwards over the course of the season than what Burton have to offer and should be confident of the clean sheet.

LB: Charlie Taylor

Charlie Taylor replaced Gaetano Beradi against Wolves and looked bright, which is why we want to bring him into the first-team for the huge game against the Brewers.

He’s had to play second fiddle over the past couple of months but if given the chance to start, he’ll almost certainly take that opportunity with both hands.
