It’s fair to say that Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern have had their spirits brightened recently…

Pep Guardiola has managed to turn things around and our resident City punters are getting giddy about mounting a late bid for the title.

Our landlord has been quick to quash these claims but feels that if City keep performing like they have of late, then they may well have a chance in the knockout cups such as the Champions League and the FA Cup, and with another transfer window on the horizon come the end of the season, Guardiola could mould City into title winners next season.

When players get bought into clubs it also usually means that there is a bit of a clear out of the supposed ‘deadwood’ at the club and the Citizens in the Transfer Tavern are already in discussions over which players could be in demand for other clubs and how much they can get for them.

These conversations always spark up opinions in the Tavern but here are TWO of the most popular City men to surely be in demand this summer…

Vincent Kompany

The Manchester City captain has been blighted with a knee ligament injury so far this term resulting in only 115 minutes of action for the Belgium international and our landlord believes Kompany’s psychological state could well lead to him looking to leave the Etihad this summer.

He is no longer a reliable defender, and if Guardiola can’t trust him to play every week – he likely won’t ever thrust him into the first team when he is fit.

The Belgian has had a great career in Manchester, but it is time for him to move on.

However, that being said, his experience and quality could entice a number of clubs to bring him in. Perhaps they think that they could cure him of his injury issues – and if they can do that, they would arguably have one of Europe’s best defenders available to them.

Sure, clubs may be put off by his injury record, but is he worth a go? We reckon so.

Sergio Aguero

The thought of Aguero leaving the Etihad puts fear into the minds of our resident City punters in the Transfer Tavern but it is a move that is looking to become more and more of a reality.

Gabriel Jesus has arrived and impressed, and whilst he is currently injured, it looks as though the Brazilian will be City’s first choice when fit going forward.

Aguero is one of Europe’s best, though, and he will have no shortage of suitors. Consistent and effective – Man City will get a decent fee for him.
