The Newcastle United fans in the Transfer Tavern ultimately proved to be rather happy with their point at home to Liverpool yesterday afternoon.
Indeed, our resident Geordie contingent are even slightly disappointed not to have snatched a later winner, showing just how far they’ve come under the masterful stewardship of Rafa Benitez.
However, it could have been so much worse.
Former Magpies Georginio Wijnaldum went close to finally scoring away from home on these shores, by hitting the bar for his new side in the first half. As you can imagine, Newcastle hearts were in their mouths.
Still, other than that, the Dutchman largely failed to deliver once again. A rather bizarre trend for a man with obvious talent, the former PSV midfielder can seemingly never perform when not playing at either Anfield or previously, St. James’ Park.
With the Toon Army knowing all about that, here’s a look at how Newcastle fans rated Wijnaldum’s performance upon his return to Tyneside.
