Mourinho needs to consider dropping these 2 Man United players against Newcastle today – agreed?

United fans here in the Tavern are looking for their side to pick things up as the lapse of the international break comes to a close.

The Red Devils headed into the break in despair, after a 1-0 sucker punch at the hands of Chelsea, which saw Jose Mourinho field his side with a negative outlook. Having slipped up over the month of October, United will be looking to improve on things, as a lapse in form has seen them lose sight of leaders Manchester City.

Attention will now be turned to their upcoming game at Old Trafford, where they welcome a team who have also discovered scuppered form in Newcastle United. The Toon and Red Devils battles have always been a spectacle, with fierce competition in the past during the Shearer vs Keane days.

Having been heavily criticized due to his choice of tactics and decision making, by fans and pundits for the course of the season so far, it is yet to be seen as to whether he will adopt a new way of life for United.

The international break has spelled the departure of the majority of players going off to their respective nations, meaning that Mourinho and his coaching staff were able to keep a close eye on the progress and performance of certain players.

So for a United team that is far from perfect, here are TWO players that could face the sanctions of a drop to the bench…

Henrikh Mkhitaryan

The Armenian wizard has struggled to reach the heights of his early season form, as his performances of late have lacked real quality and commitment. Similarly to a nocturnal animal, he seems to be sleeping during the day that’s lead to him becoming a ghost on the pitch.

Last time out he endured a torrid performance once again, as he was sacrificed early by Mourinho with the poor form looking long to continue. In having such a quality back up option of Anthony Martial waiting in the wings, Mourinho shouldn’t hesitate to bring in the attacking quality and prowess of the French attacker, after his impressive display for the national side against Germany.

Ander Herrera

The Spanish midfielder has consistently been the gaffers first choice so far this season, but in his last game prior to the international break, he put in a disappointing display. Needing him to step up in a high profile game, Mourinho was constantly on his case as he allowed Chelsea players to run freely past him.

Having the luxury of Belgian Marouane Fellaini on the bench allowed for a change that saw the tall midfielder cause lots of problems for the Blues towards the end of the match. So after an impressive off the bench performance Fellaini, if he can keep his aggression in check, could pose an added threat against a shaky Newcastle defence.
