Mourinho really needs to drop these 2 Man United players tomorrow – Agreed?

A midweek win against Bournemouth got our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern back to that winning feeling.

After a disappointing derby loss last weekend, Mourinho needed to win midweek to ensure that it wasn’t the start of a difficult period for United going into the festive fixtures. The win sees The Red Devils keep the gap to 11 points after Man City recorded yet another win, which isn’t ideal but with Liverpool and Arsenal both dropping points, they’re now starting to see a little breathing space in the top four.

However, much has been made of the lacklustre performance in the 1-0 win and Mourinho must surely rotate his players on Sunday against West Brom to inject some sharpness back into the squad. At some point, our United fans in the Tavern think that City have got to drop points, and United need to be fully able to take advantage.

Our regulars take a look at a couple of players Mourinho must drop on Sunday…

Ashley Young

Although Young has had a phenomenal season so far since making the switch to left-back, Luke Shaw is upping his game in recent weeks with a couple of decent performances.

Another game under his belt this week could see him finally start to gain that little momentum he desperately needs to get back to the Shaw United signed all those years ago. Perhaps a tad harsh on Young, though surely he’s not a realistic long-term option.

Romelu Lukaku

The Belgian grabbed a much-needed goal midweek but the striker seems jaded. With the returning Zlatan Ibrahimovic needing some game time, maybe it’s time Mourinho gave Lukaku a rest against one of his former clubs.

Indeed, it’d give the big Swede a chance to deflect some of the limelight away from Lukaku’s recent poor goal-scoring form.
