Mourinho really needs to start trusting these 2 Man United youngsters

Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern are excited for the next wave of youth academy prospects coming through the ranks.

Jose Mourinho is not looking to break the 80-year-old record of having a United youth academy player named in the matchday squad. Despite many of our punters believing that Mourinho wouldn’t give youth a chance after his appointment at Old Trafford, he seems to be fully invested in the Red Devils youth policy.

Our regulars like the idea of, if a United graduate makes it into the first team, they’ll know it’s not just for a 10-minute stint. Mourinho’s policy is, in order to promote an academy player he must be there to be a first-team fixture rather than a brief cameo appearance.

With that in mind, our landlord takes a look at two youngsters that Mourinho really should start to trust more…

Scott McTominay

Having already made his debut this season in a United midfielder starved of players due to injury, McTominay shone in the Old Trafford limelight.

Although Mourinho would be trying to extend the contracts of his midfielders that are expiring in the summer, he could have a ready-made replacement already within the ranks for next season.

Andreas Pereira

Despite being out on loan at Valencia currently, there’s much talk of a return to Old Trafford in January. Pereira is considered a huge talent with the walls of United and many believe his time is now to start gaining some United first team minutes.

A wonderfully creative talent, he looks a United player in the making. Now, it’s up to Mourinho to afford the Brazilian the platform on which to grow.
