Our Manchester United fans here in the Transfer Tavern have got the hope that the Red Devils can go all the way next season.
Having been in and out of the Champions League places over the past five seasons, United will be hoping to finally make a good account of themselves next year after finishing in their highest position in recent years in Jose Mourinho’s second year in charge.
The League has gone in this season to bitter rivals Man City, winning the FA Cup seems to be United’s only hope of bringing some silverware to Old Trafford for the second season running. If the latter is to happen, then Mourinho needs his men to step up to the plate.
With that being said, Mourinho in the summer must rid the club of some deadwood, and bring in players to strengthen key areas of the pitch whilst bringing a certain balance to the team. Our landlord takes a look at what SIX players Mourinho needs to ensure possible Premier League victory next season…
Danny Rose

With the possible departure of Luke Shaw, United need to bring in a left back that has the quality of Shaw but can fulfil it at Old Trafford on the biggest of stages. With that in mind, Danny Rose fits the Mourinho bill perfectly and seems a move to United would suit all round as Rose seemed very vocal over a move to a bigger club in the summer.
He’d be a great signing and would help United develop a more expansive style of play.
Toby Alderweireld

Alongside his Spurs teammate, Alderweireld could join Rose in coming to United in the summer. The Belgian is not getting the game time he was afforded before his injury and in returning, has since been a regular feature on the Spurs bench amid the stalling contract talks.
Alderweireld is the strong and experienced defender Mourinho needs to partner first choice Eric Bailly at the back as the other centre-backs aren’t cutting the mustard.
Toni Kroos

The Real Madrid central midfielder seems to be the perfect replacement for the retiring Michael Carrick. Having nearly joined United in the past, a move to Old Trafford seems inevitable for the German star and one that would be widely welcomed at the Red Devils.
Should Kroos choose to move this summer, it could be the missing link that United have long needed to turn themselves into title contenders.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic

The Lazio midfielder has been creating a hype for some while now in Serie A, with his agent – a certain Mateja Kezman – claiming he’s better than a certain Paul Pogba. It will be some fight to grab his signature, especially if the Serbian impresses in the World Cup, though he could be a huge addition at the Theatre of Dreams.
Indeed, United do have one hand to show, with his brother Vanja being at United during Fergie’s years for 18 months.
Riyad Mahrez

The Leicester City man showed his hand for a second time in the summer by putting in a transfer request for the second transfer window running. United should look to bring in a natural right-sided player to bring the balance of the team a little more together and even out the plethora of left-sided players they have at the club at present.
A wonderful talent, he’d only add to United’s attacking riches and could even prove a replacement for Anthony Martial should he depart.
