Everton want to sign Bristol City striker Nicky Maynard next summer, according to several sources.
Manager David Moyes isn’t afforded the luxury of buying multi-million pound players at Everton with the Blues not making one permanent signature last summer.
This has led to Everton’s interest in Maynard, 24, who has scored seven goals in 18 Championship appearances this season for Bristol City.
Maynard’s current club are desperate to tie down the forward to a new deal but the player could let his contract expire and join Everton on a free at the end of the season.
“I’m never going to know until I try it. I’ve spent four seasons in the Championship and scored three in the last three games. I like to believe I’ve done fairly well and would like to try myself a bit higher.
“There have been a few clubs mentioned but it’s just rumours at the moment. The gaffer’s told me not to let it affect me, whatever will be will be.”
