The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a stat, posted from a Tottenham Hotspur fan account, that Spurs have finished above Liverpool for eight out of the last ten seasons. The stat has led to a number of Liverpool fans ridiculing Tottenham fans and lauding the fact that they’re due to face Real Madrid in the Champions League final in just under two weeks time.

Tottenham’s incredible rise to being one of England’s best sides over the last few seasons seems to have really irritated some of our local Kopites. Under Mauricio Pochettino the Lilywhites have finished 3rd, 2nd and 3rd in their last three seasons, securing Champions League football three years on the bounce for the first time in their history. Despite this, the Anfield faithful propping our bar up are refusing to praise their North London rivals, instead using their upcoming Champions League final as a way of arguing their case over Spurs.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have done extremely well to reach the Champions League final, and they’ll be facing an entirely different threat at the last hurdle in Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid. Interestingly, Tottenham are the only side to have got the better over Real Madrid over two games in the Champions League, having beaten them 3-1 at Wembley and drawn 1-1 at the Bernabeu. Either way, the Reds in the bar have been ripping into Spurs for the early knockout stage exit to Juventus in the Champions League and their long trophy drought as they argue their case at the expense of Pochettino’s side.
