In Nasri, Arsenal have a player with undoubted potential yet the ability to infuriate. In the recent friendly with Boca at the Emirates Cup he went missing all together. Is this a sign of things to come? Or is this the same unmotivated out of form Nasri we saw at the end of last season.
The press are calling Arsenal stupid for keeping him and possibly losing out on a £20 million transfer fee. But with Fabregas’ likely departure, if Nasri was to leave as well Arsenal would be left very short creatively and there doesn’t seem to be many players around that could replace either with similar quality for similar money.
If Arsenal do sell Nasri to Man City as the press report and Fabregas to Barca, what would happen to Arsenal next season? They could seriously run the risk of not qualifying for the Champions League in 2012-2013 and risk losing the £20 million minimum TV rights and gate receipts.
Some people will point out that with the current squad Arsenal have been predicted to finish outside the top four by many papers, however if history is anything to go by, Arsene Wenger will get them into the Champions league yet again and prove the critics wrong.
In my humble opinion Arsenal should keep hold of Nasri until a replacement has been found. As to lose Nasri and Fabregas without suitable replacements would be committing Hari Kari.
