Could Luis Suarez soon be shaking hands on a lucrative move to Paris?
After being starved of any transfer activity for a whopping thirty six days now, a premature flurry of impatient rumours seem to have burst from beneath floorboards this week.
Today it’s every bodies favourite little man Luis Suarez who’s got people gossiping, with PSG’s billionaire supremo Nasser Al-Khelaifi stating his intent to nab the Uruguayan this summer. By no means living on a shoe string, the Parisians are the new financial heavy weight bully in town, and the Mirror claim they’ll be armed with a modest £85 million war chest.
Not appeased with the idea of signing Liverpool’s talisman, the owner also claimed a solid interest in Real Madrid forward Gonzalo Higuain, who’s scored 19 times this season.
Al-Khelaifi commented “We have clear targets in mind. It is true that we want Luis Suarez and Gonzalo Higuain.” “Our real short-term targets are to win the Champions League and find a new Lionel Messi.”
Not asking for much there then. So with money now the long established biggest talker within the game, it looks as though the Benjamin’s could be swindling matters for the Ligue 1 leaders in the transfer market. However, whilst a selfless, humble Suarez might admittedly be attracted by the proposition of mountains of money, one has to remember a move to the French league does still represent a step down for most players.
This season, Suarez has somehow managed to combine the hazardous attributes of incredible misfortune in front of goal and ungodly stupidness. He does though remain a star of the English game, and must surely want to achieve more in the country than a penalty shoot-out Carling Cup and a racism charge.
What for Higuain, A man who starts irregularly but scores frequently for Madrid? Well perhaps he may indeed follow in the diamond encrusted shoe steps of fellow countryman Javier Pastore, who surprisingly turned down Chelsea for a move to the French capital last summer.
One things for sure, with PSG, Malaga, Anzhi blah blah blah and Manchester City all bearing rather impressive teeth in the build up to the rat race of the window, we can rest-assured that soon we shall be adequately nourished with juicy transfer goodness come July.
