Our Derby County fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hopeful that the new 2017/18 Championship season is going to be the one that marks their return to the Premier League.
The last few pre-seasons have seen the Rams earmarked as one of the sides to watch in terms of the chase for promotion but things simply have not panned out that way.
Indeed, last season saw them struggle to find consistency with Steve McClaren eventually losing his job and being replaced by Gary Rowett.
Rowett, though, is a manager than many fans are happy to have in charge and he’s certainly been quick to start assembling his squad with the eye-catching signing of Curtis Davies from Hull City.
Certainly, this is the kind of deal that suggests the Rams are going to go for it in the Championship this season coming and fans have been quick to react to the news on Twitter – the best of which can be found below:
