Newcastle supporters in the Football Transfer Tavern have finally got the news they have been waiting for, courtesy of the Express.
The publication claims the Toon have finally struck a £13million deal with Montpellier for long term target Remy Cabella.
Alan Pardew has been chasing the 24-year-old for more than 12 months, and saw a deal to bring him in as Yohan Cabaye’s replacement fall through in January.
Newcastle had previously had an £8million bid rejected, but are now free to discuss personal terms with the player after making a much improved offer.
Montpellier chief executive Louis Nicollin has fought hard to keep his man, but finally admitted defeat when he revealed: “There is an agreement in place with Newcastle.”
Cabella – who won the French title in 2012 – scored 14 goals last season, and will be hoping to make an immediate impact on Tyneside.
The winger was a part of Didier Deschamps World Cup squad, however he failed to make an appearance in Brazil.
He has previously attracted interest from both Manchester United and Arsenal.
