The punters here at the Transfer Tavern are all in agreement that this move would be a sensible piece of business, with the South London Press reporting that Newcastle United will look to make a move for Crystal Palace goalkeeper, Julian Speroni.
With first choice stopper Tim Krul being recently ruled out for the season with a cruciate knee ligament injury, it appears that Magpies boss Steve McLaren has seen enough to think that stand in keeper Rob Elliot does not have the necessary quality to keep them in the division.
Instead, McLaren will look to make a loan move for the 36-year-old Argentine, who is no longer the first choice keeper at Crystal Palace.
Newcastle could look to bring Speroni in earlier than January, and may ask the Premier League for special permission to bring him in earlier, in order to solve their problem.
Should the Magpies fail to bring him in, they may have to reconsider other options, such as the ones that we recently covered.
